How Much Does Presentation Design Cost? A Per-Slide and Per-Project Guide

Presentation design costs vary by scope. Compare current hourly, per-slide, project and monthly prices, then budget a 12, 20 or 30-slide deck.

Presentation design can cost about $35 to $60 an hour on Upwork, $16 to $66 per slide at 24Slides, or several thousand dollars for complex work. The right budget depends on whether you need simple cleanup, a full redesign, story support, animation, fast delivery or recurring help.

Presentation design cost at a glance

There is no honest single price for a presentation because a formatting job and a board-level narrative are different products. These live public examples were checked on August 4, 2026. They are useful market anchors, not quotes for your specific deck.

The Upwork hiring guide also lists $800 to $3,000 for a 20 to 40-slide conference keynote. The 24Slides pricing page separates light cleanup from redesign and illustration-heavy redraw work. SlideGenius publishes a wider $25 to $200+ hourly range, which shows how quickly experience, strategy and complexity change the number.

What per-slide pricing actually buys

A slide is only a billing unit. It does not describe the work inside it. Fixing alignment, fonts and spacing on an approved slide may take minutes. Turning a spreadsheet into a truthful executive chart, building a new visual system or animating a product story can take hours. Ask the provider to classify sample slides before multiplying a rate by the deck length.

A 12-slide deck can cost $192 or $792 with the same provider

At 24Slides' current Basic rates, 12 Fix Up slides total $192, 12 Redesign slides total $516 and 12 Redraw slides total $792. A 20-slide deck works out to $320, $860 or $1,320. A 30-slide deck becomes $480, $1,290 or $1,980. Those are simple rate calculations, not all-in estimates, because one deck can mix all three service levels and deadline choices may affect the order.

This is why a cheap per-slide headline can disappoint. The lowest tier may preserve the existing layout and content, while the work you imagined includes narrative editing, custom charts, image sourcing, a reusable master, animation and several review rounds. Compare the definition of a finished slide, not only the number beside it.

Six factors that move a presentation quote

  1. Starting point. Clean, approved copy costs less to design than raw notes, transcripts and spreadsheets that need a story.
  2. Slide complexity. Reformatting existing objects is different from custom data visualization, illustration, diagrams, animation or video.
  3. Audience and stakes. A weekly internal update needs less discovery than a fundraising deck, board presentation or global keynote.
  4. Brand readiness. A usable template, fonts, image rules and chart styles reduce exploration. Missing brand direction adds a separate decision layer.
  5. Turnaround and review cycles. A short deadline changes scheduling. Conflicting feedback and late data changes create more work than the first draft.
  6. Handoff. Editable PowerPoint, Google Slides or Keynote files, reusable masters, licensed assets and multiple aspect ratios should be explicit in the quote.

SlideGenius notes that rush delivery under 48 hours can add 25% to 50% and that many professional designers include only two revision rounds. Treat those figures as that provider's market guidance, not a universal fee. Your quote should name the deadline, review rounds and extra-work rate in writing.

Choose hourly, per-slide, per-project or monthly pricing

Choose hourly pricing when the scope is genuinely small

Hourly work fits a five-slide cleanup, troubleshooting or a short working session with a designer. It is less comfortable when the content is still moving because the final cost stays open. Set a time cap, define what approval looks like and ask for a warning before the cap is reached.

Choose per-slide pricing when the deck is stable

Per-slide pricing is easy to budget when the slide count, content and design level are known. It works well for a batch of existing slides that need consistent treatment. Ask how section dividers, title slides, duplicated layouts, speaker notes and revisions are counted.

Choose per-project pricing for one high-stakes outcome

A fixed project suits an investor deck, sales narrative or keynote that needs discovery, structure and art direction around one deadline. The quote can include strategy and specialist work without turning every change into a new slide charge. The trade-off is a defined scope. Related follow-on assets usually need a separate quote.

Choose a subscription for a recurring presentation queue

A subscription fits teams that update sales decks, board reports, proposals, investor materials and launch assets every month. PitchWorx Creative Assist is currently $699 per month. You can queue unlimited requests, two are active at a time, revisions and editable source files are included, and most everyday first deliveries arrive within about 72 hours. Larger decks move through reviewable milestones.

This model is not unlimited parallel production. Its economic advantage appears when the work keeps changing or extends beyond slides. The same queue can handle a landing page, campaign graphic, brochure, motion piece or brand request after the presentation. If you need one simple deck and nothing else, a freelancer may cost less.

A realistic monthly cost comparison

Imagine a marketing team needs an 18-slide sales deck, a 12-slide quarterly update and a six-slide investor update in one month. That is 36 slides. At 24Slides' public Basic rates, all Fix Up work would total $576, all Redesign work $1,548 and all Redraw work $2,376. PitchWorx would remain $699 for the month under its current plan.

This comparison is useful only after matching scope. A $16 Fix Up slide and a managed subscription milestone are not identical deliverables. List which slides need cleanup, new layouts, charts, story help and animation. Then compare the usable output, included revisions and time your team spends coordinating, not just the invoice total.

When spending more on a presentation is sensible

Pay for deeper help when the presentation must change a decision, not merely document one. An investor deck may need a sharper argument and credible financial charts. A sales presentation may need modular versions for several buyer roles. A keynote may need speaker pacing, animation and rehearsals. In those cases, the expensive part is often judgment, not decoration. Ask the provider to explain which decisions their senior people will own.

Spend less when the story, template and data are already approved and the job is production. A short internal report may only need consistent spacing, chart cleanup and accessibility checks. Do not buy strategy twice. Give the designer a clean source file, one accountable reviewer and a clear list of slides that need special treatment. Better inputs can reduce both the quote and the number of review cycles without lowering the quality of the final presentation.

Use this presentation design quote checklist

Send the same brief and three representative slides to every candidate. That makes quotes comparable. A portfolio proves taste, but the proposal should prove that the provider understands your audience, the hard slides, the review process and the handoff your team needs after delivery.

Frequently asked questions

How much does presentation design cost per slide?

Current public examples range from $16 for light slide cleanup at 24Slides to $66 for redraw work. SlideGenius describes $15 to $75 per slide as common. Complex data visualization, custom illustration, animation, strategy and rush delivery can move a quote above those examples.

How much does a 20-slide presentation cost?

Using 24Slides' current Basic rates, 20 slides would be $320 for Fix Up, $860 for Redesign or $1,320 for Redraw. Upwork lists $500 to $2,500 for a typical 10 to 20-slide pitch deck. Your final price depends on how many slides fall into each complexity tier.

How much does a freelance presentation designer charge?

Upwork says presentation designers on its marketplace typically charge $35 to $60 per hour. Its current project guidance lists $300 to $1,500 for a corporate redesign and $500 to $2,500 for a pitch deck. Senior specialists, urgent timelines and strategy-heavy work can cost more.

Is an agency or freelancer cheaper for PowerPoint design?

A freelancer is usually cheaper for one defined deck or cleanup job. A larger partner can be worth the premium when you need strategy, specialist skills, account management or dependable capacity. A subscription can be the better value when presentation work recurs and connects to other design requests.

Does presentation design include writing the content?

Not automatically. Some quotes cover only visual design using approved copy. Narrative structure, copywriting, research and fact-checking may be separate. Ask the provider to show who owns the outline, slide headlines, data claims and final proofreading before work begins.

How long does professional presentation design take?

A short cleanup can take a day, while a complex presentation may need several weeks. PitchWorx returns most everyday first deliveries within about 72 hours and breaks larger decks into milestones. The total schedule depends on slide count, story readiness, complexity and how quickly reviewers respond.

A presentation often leads to a landing page, campaign, video, brochure, social set or brand update. PitchWorx keeps those connected in one managed queue with two active requests and senior review. One subscription does all of this. See the current $699/month Creative Assist plan.
