An investor relations lead, finance leader and presentation designer compare quarterly charts across a screen and printed slide proofs before release

Earnings presentation design services should turn an approved quarterly source pack into a clear investor deck without changing the numbers or disclosure meaning. Choose a provider that controls metric definitions, periods and versions, separates design from legal and finance approval, tests every chart and releases editable files for the webcast, investor site and next quarter.

The short answer: buy a controlled quarterly system

An earnings deck is a recurring public communication, not a one-time corporate presentation. It must help investors understand what changed, why it changed, how management frames the result and where approved guidance or risk context belongs. Design can improve hierarchy, rebuild supplied charts and make comparisons easier to scan. It cannot approve a number, decide whether information is material, create a non-GAAP measure or replace investor relations, finance, disclosure committee and counsel.

Separate the earnings deck from neighboring presentations

Create a source hierarchy before opening PowerPoint

Start with a source map that tells the design team which document controls each class of information. The approved earnings release, filed or furnished materials, financial statements and approved guidance normally outrank working spreadsheets and prior-quarter slides. A presentation designer should never resolve a conflict by selecting the value that makes the cleanest chart. The conflict goes back to the named finance or investor relations owner.

For US issuers, the SEC's non-GAAP financial measures guidance also explains that slides or a similar presentation posted on the company website can satisfy part of the Item 2.02 earnings-call condition when they contain the required previously undisclosed material financial and statistical information. That timing and content decision belongs to qualified company advisers. It is a strong reason to treat the public deck and release workflow as one controlled system.

Lock metric definitions, periods and comparison logic

A recurring deck becomes unreliable when the same label changes meaning between quarters. Build a metric dictionary that records the exact name, definition, formula owner, source, reporting period, currency, unit, rounding, comparable period, non-GAAP status and required footnote. When a definition changes, do not quietly update the chart. Flag the break, obtain approved explanatory language and decide whether prior periods need recasting or a visible bridge.

Metric controlQuestion to answerAcceptance evidence
DefinitionWhat exactly is included and excluded?Approved metric dictionary entry
PeriodQuarter, year-to-date, trailing period or point in time?Period appears beside the value or chart
Currency and unitReported, constant currency, thousands or millions?Label and source use the same basis
ComparisonYear over year, sequential, plan or guidance?Baseline and calculation are documented
RoundingCan displayed values reconcile after rounding?Approved rounding rule and tie-out
StatusGAAP, non-GAAP, operational or estimate?Required label, reconciliation and owner are recorded

Structure the deck around what changed this quarter

Do not start by replacing Q2 with Q3 on every slide. Begin with an approved message map. Identify the results that define the quarter, the operating drivers behind them, changes to guidance or capital allocation, and the questions management expects from analysts. Then decide which information belongs in the spoken remarks, the visible deck, the release or the appendix. Repetition is useful only when it reduces ambiguity.

Opening and key messagesWhat should I remember?Approved takeaways with periods and contextGeneric celebration before the result
Financial performanceWhere did the quarter land?Comparable revenue, profitability, cash and segment viewsDense tables without a stated conclusion

Appendix and reconciliationHow can I verify the measures?Definitions, reconciliations and supporting tablesTiny unreadable backup slides

A current specialist example, Outkreate's quarterly earnings presentation service, starts with goals and analyst questions, then develops a key-messages slide, flow and an edit-friendly recurring deck. That is a useful scope signal, not proof that one fixed outline suits every issuer. The approved disclosure package, sector, listing requirements and investor questions should determine the final sequence.

Redesign charts without rewriting the financial story

Financial charts need both clarity and fidelity. Keep original values, period order, units, axis domain, sign convention, subtotal logic, annotations and approved color meaning connected to the source. Do not remove a difficult quarter, compress a negative bar, change a stacked-series order or use cumulative and quarterly values in the same visual without an explicit distinction. A chart should make the approved comparison easier to read, not easier to like.

Give GAAP, non-GAAP and guidance the approved prominence

In the United States, the SEC's current guidance says a non-GAAP measure can be misleading if it is inconsistently presented between periods, poorly labeled or calculated using individually tailored recognition and measurement principles. It also gives examples of undue prominence, including charts or graphs of non-GAAP measures without comparable GAAP charts or graphs of equal or greater prominence. Designers should build to the approved compliance treatment, not invent a hierarchy that makes an adjusted result look stronger.

Regulation G requires the most directly comparable GAAP measure and a reconciliation when a covered public disclosure includes a material non-GAAP financial measure. Other markets use different accounting frameworks, listing rules and terminology. The project brief should name the issuer's jurisdiction, exchange, reporting framework and qualified approvers. A global-looking template is not a substitute for local review.

Build a reusable quarterly template with safe flexibility

A useful earnings template speeds repeated decisions without hiding old content. Define approved layouts for key messages, financial summaries, segment views, operating KPIs, guidance, bridges, reconciliations and appendix tables. Add named styles, theme colors, chart rules, data-label conventions, footnote levels and accessible reading order. Keep layouts flexible enough for a new segment, changed guidance range or unusual event without forcing the quarter into obsolete boxes.

Design the review and release path before the deadline

Quarterly pressure makes sequential review tempting, but late comments can invalidate earlier approval. Define parallel review lanes for finance accuracy, investor messaging, legal and disclosure, brand and accessibility, then route them through one final decision owner. Every comment should identify the slide, object, requested change, source and approver. Verbal changes belong in the same log as written changes.

Review laneWhat it ownsWhat it should not delegate to design
FinanceNumbers, periods, definitions, reconciliations and roundingChoosing between conflicting source values
Investor relationsMessages, sequence, analyst context and release coordinationMateriality or accounting conclusions
Legal and disclosureLegends, forward-looking language and public-disclosure decisionsVisual polishing of unapproved language
BrandApproved identity, type, imagery and consistent presentationFinancial or legal approval
Accessibility and publishingReading order, alt text, contrast, files and destinationsApproval of financial content

Make the presentation accessible across delivery formats

An earnings presentation may be viewed in PowerPoint, PDF, a webcast player, a mobile browser, a filing exhibit or a screenshot shared without narration. Plan for each context. Microsoft's current PowerPoint accessibility guidance recommends unique slide titles, logical reading order, sufficient contrast, larger readable type, meaningful alternative text and information that does not depend on color alone.

Protect confidential work before it becomes public

Pre-release earnings files can contain material nonpublic information, executive commentary, draft guidance and unpublished segment detail. Ask how the provider controls access, devices, file sharing, subcontractors, retention, deletion and incident response. Use the company's approved systems and permissions. Do not paste live earnings data into an unapproved public tool because it is faster than the controlled workflow.

Compare earnings presentation pricing on equal scope

Published prices show different production units. 24Slides currently lists Basic 24-hour prices of $16 per slide for fix-up, $43 for redesign and $66 for redraw, while its dedicated Premium setup starts at $2,950 per month. Waveup currently lists design-only work from $100 per slide and quotes board and investor updates by project. Outkreate's earnings-specific page describes strategy, structure, visual design and a reusable template but does not publish a current price. These are supplier offers, not a market average or a like-for-like earnings scope.

Use a quarterly workflow that survives the last revision

  1. Record the reporting period, release date, webcast time, jurisdiction, destinations and final release owner.
  2. Collect the approved source hierarchy, reporting model, metric dictionary, prior deck, brand files and required disclosure language.
  3. Approve the quarter's key messages, expected analyst questions and content map before detailed visual work begins.
  4. Build representative key-message, financial, KPI, guidance and reconciliation slides using real current-quarter content.
  5. Tie every displayed number, percentage, period and definition to an identified source and owner.
  6. Run finance, investor relations, legal, brand and accessibility reviews with consolidated comments and version control.
  7. Reconcile the final deck against the approved release and reporting source, including hidden slides, notes and appendix tables.
  8. Test PPTX, PDF, webcast and website files on a second device, then obtain final release approval.
  9. Publish through the authorized sequence, retain the approved release copy, archive drafts according to policy and record improvements for the next quarter.

Earnings presentation design services FAQs

What do earnings presentation design services include?

Typical scope includes content mapping from approved materials, slide hierarchy, chart and table redesign, brand application, recurring-template work, revisions and delivery of editable PowerPoint and PDF files. Stronger engagements can add data-source mapping, a governed slide library, webcast formatting, accessibility checks and release support. Accounting, modeling, disclosure decisions and final approval should remain explicitly assigned.

What is the difference between an earnings presentation and an Investor Day deck?

An earnings presentation explains a defined reporting period and usually aligns closely with the earnings release, financial statements, prepared remarks and approved outlook. An Investor Day deck develops a longer-term strategy, business and leadership narrative. They can share design components, but they have different time horizons, evidence, review paths and release risks.

How many slides should a quarterly earnings presentation have?

There is no universal slide count. Use the smallest complete set that explains the quarter, material drivers, approved outlook and required reconciliations for the intended delivery. A short webcast deck may move detailed definitions and supporting tables to an accessible appendix. Do not force required context into tiny type to meet an arbitrary number.

What files should I send an earnings presentation designer?

Send the approved or controlled draft release, financial statements, reporting model or identified source tables, metric dictionary, prior approved deck, approved guidance, legal language, brand files, chart data, reporting calendar and reviewer list. Mark working, approved and reference-only files clearly, and identify the owner who can resolve conflicting numbers.

Can a designer create or adjust non-GAAP measures?

A designer can format an approved non-GAAP measure, its comparable GAAP measure, reconciliation and explanatory context. The finance, legal and disclosure owners must decide whether the measure is appropriate, how it is calculated, how it is labeled and what prominence and reconciliation are required. The design provider should flag missing or inconsistent inputs rather than make those decisions.

How long does earnings presentation design take?

Timing depends on content readiness, chart rebuilding, template maturity, reviewers, security and release complexity. A mature recurring system can update faster than a first-time redesign, but the production plan still needs time for source mapping, representative slides, consolidated review, final tie-out and format testing. Plan backward from the release clock with a clear content freeze and late-change route.

How much do earnings presentation design services cost?

Cost changes with slide treatment, content readiness, chart work, recurring-template setup, review load, security, release formats and deadline coverage. Current suppliers publish per-slide, project and dedicated-team models that are not equivalent. PitchWorx Creative Assist is currently $699 per month with two active requests for recurring eligible design work. Compare the same source, review and handoff responsibilities before comparing totals.

How do we make an earnings presentation accessible?

Use unique slide titles, logical reading order, real text, sufficient contrast, readable type, meaningful alt text and non-color cues. Keep tables simple, provide text equivalents for complex charts and test the editable file and exported PDF. Also verify the investor-site and webcast experience. Automated checking is useful, but a human review is still needed for meaning and sequence.

One subscription does all of this

An earnings cycle rarely ends with one deck. The same approved source pack can create investor-site graphics, webcast holding slides, leadership talking points, social announcements, an internal results summary, chart updates and the next quarter's reusable slide library. PitchWorx Creative Assist keeps that connected design queue moving for $699 per month with two active requests and senior review on every output. Start with the approved release package, metric dictionary and prior deck. One subscription does all of this. Explore financial presentation design services.
