Design a call to action button that leads to conversion

In the website design, even the smallest of tweaks can make a huge difference. Apart from the infographics, videos, or typography, there is much more into the design. While designing a website, it is crucial to study and test how users will interact with the website. Design of a clickable call-to-action button can attract visitors and convert visitors to customers. Here is how you can design a call-to-action button that leads to conversion.

Make the button visible

To make your visitors respond to the call-to-action button, make it clearly visible with the size in proportion to the other elements on the page. This will help in grabbing the visitor’s attention. The size of the button should be standard that makes the page layout look unbalanced. To optimize visibility, you can balance the button with other characteristics such as shape and colour. Make sure the colour blends with the existing colour scheme of your website.

Make the button look clickable

Your call-to-action button is of no use if the visitors don’t recognize that it’s clickable. The call-to-action button not only gives a tangible experience, but it also acts as an interactive tool that visitors look to navigate the website. Therefore, it is imperative that the button looks clickable. The most common design of the button is the rectangular shape with sharp or rounded corners.  For other shapes, you can use options such as shadows, highlights, 3D effect, and other effects to make the button look clickable.

Position the button properly

Now that you have designed your button, the next important thing is its placement. It should be in sync with the overall website page design layout. As per the general guideline, the button should be placed above the fold because that is where the readers look first. This will prompt the visitors to click without having to scroll down. Also, the space surrounding the button should be a blank space with no other elements crowding. This will help the button with visual prominence and will lead to conversion.

Address the user

Speak to the user, engage with them via the call-to-action button It is because when they connect with the button, they are more likely to click on it. Make sure you don’t make the visitors feel constrained or manipulated by the language of your button. Keep the tone welcoming that resonates with them. For example, “Let’s Talk!” or “Join In!”, communicates positively with the visitors making them interact with you on your website.

Keep the content crisp

Keep the content on the button short and crisp to avoid any confusion that may deviate the visitor from clicking the button. There may be cases wherein you need to give more explanation to the context, in that case, you can include the information outside or usually underneath the call-to-action button.
